While investigating education and public health issues in Uganda, I discovered the “Father Michael Mukasa Education Fund.” This documentary tells the story of the children involved in the fund which was created in 2003 by Fr. Michael Mukasa, a catholic theologian from Uganda. The fund focuses on children, with an emphasis on girls, who have been orphaned by the AIDS and Malaria epidemics in Uganda. His intention: to educate these children from first grade through college. He hopes that upon graduation they will be able to enter into society with gainful employment and the ability to give back to their communities. The film also tells Fr. Michael’s story and his relationship to the children to whom he has become like a father.
